A 4-Minute Workout for Your Brain: Announcing the Neuroclastic Beta

At NunnCurtis Labs, we believe that the most powerful tool you own is your brain. But in a world of endless distraction and cognitive “automatic pilot,” how often do we actually take it to the gym?

We’re thrilled to announce the early beta of Neuroclastic, our new mobile app designed to be a 4-minute, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout for your mind.

The goal is simple: to provide a daily, science-backed cognitive workout that is fast, challenging, and effective. And to do that, we need your help. We are officially looking for beta testers to try Neuroclastic and provide critical feedback.

This Isn’t Just a “Brain Game”

We didn’t want to build another simple puzzle app. We wanted to build a genuine training tool. The development of Neuroclastic is grounded in decades of cognitive neuroscience research, and it’s built on two core principles: neuroplasticity and cognitive conflict.

  1. Neuroplasticity: The Brain’s Ability to Rewire Neuroplasticity is the brain’s fundamental ability to adapt and reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. Just like physical exercise strengthens muscles, targeted mental challenges can strengthen cognitive pathways. Neuroclastic is designed to be that targeted challenge.
  2. Cognitive Conflict: The “Good” Kind of Hurt Our guiding principle was that the workout should “hurt” a bit. The scientific term for this is cognitive conflict. This is the mental tension you feel when your brain has to resolve competing or contradictory information.Think of the classic scientific task: naming the color of the word “BLUE” when it’s printed in red ink. Your brain’s automatic impulse (reading) is in direct conflict with the required task (naming the color). That feeling of “unpleasantness” isn’t a flaw; it’s the trigger for cognitive control. It’s the signal that forces your brain to disengage “automatic pilot” and actively work, adapt, and get stronger.

How the 4-Minute HIIT Workout Works

The Neuroclastic “HIIT” session is a 4-minute, rapid-fire suite of micro-games. This “daily brain workout” model is supported by research showing that brief, adaptive training sessions are effective for building cognitive skills.

Our games are specifically designed to train the “big three” core Executive Functions:

  • Inhibitory Control (Self-Control): This is the ability to resist impulses and suppress automatic responses. Our “Color/Name” game is a direct application of a gold-standard scientific task for training inhibitory control.
  • Working Memory (Mental “Scratchpad”): The ability to hold and manipulate information in your mind. You’ll feel this working in our “Memory Sequence” and “Complete the Pattern” games.
  • Cognitive Flexibility (Task-Switching): This is the ability to “think outside the box” and flexibly adapt to changing rules or circumstances. This is our secret weapon.

In the current Neuroclastic beta, a new game or rule is randomly chosen after every single answer. This constant, rapid switching—from a word game (“Vowel or Consonant?”) to a categorization task (“Living or Object?”) and back again—is designed to be maximally demanding. It forces your brain to inhibit the old rule set and load a new one, over and over. This is a potent and direct way to train cognitive flexibility.

We Need Your Help

We’re in the early stages, and we need your feedback to get the balance right. Is it too hard? Too easy? Which games make your brain “hurt” the most? Your insights will be invaluable as we refine the experience.

Join us on this journey to build a stronger, more resilient mind.

How to Join the Beta:
